Tribune Company CEO Randy Michaels is still getting a paycheck for the moment, but it soon may come to an end. Amid reports of a dysfunctional corporate culture fostered by Michaels and his cohorts, the company’s board of directors met Tuesday to discuss Michael’s status, but stopped short of requesting his resignation.
One insider who spoke on a condition of anonymity with The New York Times, stated that the resignation should come soon, although according to many employees, soon may not be soon enough. The most recent embarrassing incident for the formerly respected and staid institution was an email distributed companywide by one of Michael’s handpicked senior managers, which directed employees to an online video titled “Sluts”, featuring female nudity. Apparently, that’s what management felt what was needed to loosen up the rank and file during tough times for the newspaper. Right.
